Photography Competition: Europe in London

London’s multicultural environment is the forefront of European diversity. The theme “Europe in London” explores how Londoners from different places across the world perceive Europe.

We aim in particular to give UCL’s students the opportunity to express what Europe means to them and what makes them feel as a part of this community.

We all have a picture in mind when we say “This is Europe”. It could be a place, a person, an atmosphere, anything. What is yours?

The competition will take place from December to February. Send in a photo you took that describes what Europe is for you.

The winning photographs will receive fantastic prizes and will be exhibited at the Print Room Café in February, during our “Europe in the World” Focus Week.

Kindly supported by the European Institute.

EU or United States of Germany?

As the economic crisis deepens in Europe, Germany has revealed itself as the economic, political and ideological leader of Europe. Is the EU still the institution we used to know, founded on diversity and democracy, or just a growing federal state under the control of Germany?

Come and join us at UCL to listen to an enlightening talk by Brendan Donnelly! A former MEP, he is now the Director of the Federal Trust, a think tank with particular interest in the European Union and Britain’s place in it.

The event takes place next Thursday, the 24th January at 19:30, in room Darwin B15 Biochemistry LT. Entry is free for all UCLU European Society and New Turn members, £2 entry otherwise.

Adjusting to life among Sweden’s young elite proves difficult, and Eric is quickly  made an outcast by his more influential peers. Eric soon realises that he faces a choice –  accepting his place, or fighting for his honour, and risking everything that his mother had  sacrificed for him… It will, of course, be shown with subtitles, and there will, of course, be wine  and snacks.
